Family Involvement
School Site Council (SSC)
A major focus of Ingenuity School's many programs is to involve the parents of our students in as many aspects of their student's education as possible. To this end, ICS provides resources to promote parent involvement to enrich the academic environment at ICS for all students who are enrolled here. We believe that when parents actively participate in their student's school, students are more likely to achieve high standards of academic success for which we strive.
The School Site Council (SSC) meets every other month to discuss school programs, propose and coordinate fundraising opportunities, coordinate parent volunteer opportunities, plan and coordinate school events, make suggestions to sustain the quality of education at ICS, and to review and ratify the school's Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and budget. All are welcome to attend.
The California Education Code requires the School Site Council to:
-
Measure the effectiveness of improvement strategies at the school.
-
Seek input from school advisory committees.
-
Reaffirm or revise school goals.
-
Revise improvement strategies and expenditures.
-
Recommend the approved single plan for student achievement (SPSA) to the governing board.
-
Monitor implementation of the SPSA.
Ingenuity's SSC meets once a month in person at 3:00 pm.

English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC)
Ingenuity's District English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a group of parents and educational partners who meet every other month to discuss student achievement, upcoming school activities, and available academic supports and student programs, with a focus on English Learners.
The primary purpose of ELAC is to advise school leadership and staff regarding the instructional programs and support services for English Learners. ELAC is also responsible for advising the School Site Council (SSC). ELAC acts as the English learner parent advisory committee under Education Code Sections 52063(b)(1) and 52062(a)(2), the ELAC also reviews and comments on the development of the annual update of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). ELAC also reviews and provides input on compliance requirements such as reclassification criteria, LEA English Learner Master Plan, and required parent notifications. The school is responsible for training and providing appropriate support to all ELAC members. By doing so, ELAC members are well-informed and able to communicate meaningful input and advice to the school about its efforts to educate English Learners.
